TORONTO – Change is afoot in the upper echelons of Rogers Media.

In the first of two announcements Thursday, Scott Moore (pictured) was named president of Sportsnet and NHL, effective immediately.  In this new role, Moore will lead the two “priority sports portfolios” and serve on the Rogers Media Senior Leadership Team.

Previously, Moore was president of broadcast at Rogers Media, overseeing programming, production, regulatory, engineering and distribution of the company’s TV and radio assets.  Prior to joining Rogers Media in 2010, he was executive director of CBC Sports and general manager of CBC’s media sales and marketing department.

Moore was quick to make his own announcement, naming Bart Yabsley as senior vice president of NHL and video distribution, effective January 27.  Yabsley will be responsible for non-advertising/sponsorship revenue for NHL content including product development, managing NHL-related partnerships, and the distribution of NHL content to video providers.  He will also oversee the distribution of Rogers’s specialty channels to content distributors across the country.

A senior executive with more than 25 years of business and legal expertise, Yabsley has held senior executive roles at Bell Media for the last 12 years, most recently as executive vice president of content sales and distribution.  Previously, he was executive vice president, business planning and distribution at CTV Inc., and executive vice president of CTV Specialty Television Inc.

Both appointments come on the heels of Rogers Communications’ 12-year, $5.2 billion deal with the NHL which awarded Rogers the Canadian broadcast and multimedia rights to NHL games on all platforms in all languages through the 2025-26 season.
