
Rogers Sportsnet’s broadcast of Game 7 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS) between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners attracted record-breaking viewership on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+, with an average of six million Canadians tuning in to watch the Jays punch their ticket to the World Series, according to a Tuesday press release from Sportsnet.
Before Monday night’s broadcast, the most-watched Blue Jays game ever on Sportsnet was Game 6 of the 2015 ALCS, which averaged 5.1 million viewers, according to the press release.
Game 7 audiences peaked at 8.3 million viewers around 11 p.m. ET when Jays closer Jeff Hoffman struck out Mariners center fielder Julio Rodríguez for the game’s final out, Sportsnet said. The network’s pregame show Blue Jays Central attracted an average of 1.9 million viewers on Monday, while an average of 2.8 million fans stayed tuned into postgame coverage to watch Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. get crowned MVP of the series and the team pop champagne in the clubhouse, Sportsnet said.
The entire ALCS averaged 4.4 million viewers with 15.9 million Canadians tuning into Sportsnet’s coverage at some point, according to Sportsnet’s press release. Overall, the MLB postseason on Sportsnet is averaging 1.4 million viewers and has reached 17.4 million Canadians to date, Sportsnet said.
Game 1 of the World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 24 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, with Blue Jays Central starting at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet.
