MONCTON – Canadians may support the families of the RCMP Officers that were slain in the Moncton shootings last week thanks to a partnership between Rotary Club of Moncton, the Mobile Giving Foundation Canada (MGFC) and the RCMP Foundation.

Wireless phone customers from across Canada can make a $20 donation to support these families by texting the keyword MONCTON to the shortcode 45678.  The donation will appear on the customer’s monthly wireless bill, and 100% of the donation will go directly to the families the fallen RCMP in Moncton, care of the RCMP Foundation.

“As the city of Moncton begins its healing from the unspeakable tragedy of this week, we must look forward to the future needs of the families that were impacted by this senseless crime,” said Steve Beyea, president of the Rotary Club of Moncton, in the announcement.  “These families will need all of our support not just today, but for the years ahead.”

“A simple text message donation takes just seconds to complete”, added Bernard Lord, president of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association and chair of MGFC. “Mobile giving is a way in which Canadians from coast-to-coast can immediately express their support for these families”.
