TORONTO – American wireless carriers Sprint and Cingular have added The Fight Network’s Fight Mobile service to their product offerings.
Verizon already launched the service in May.
In pure numbers, content from the Canadian digital channel has a potential audience reach of over 150 million American mobile phone users.
The Fight Mobile service for WAP 2.0 capable telephones offers the latest news, interviews, round by round updates, rankings reports and event listings from around the fight worlds of boxing, pro wrestling and mixed martial arts.
“The addition of Cingular and the Sprint mobile networks offering Fight Mobile to the consumers is very exciting to us as we continue our efforts to become the most reliable source of news and information for fight fans from around the world on all media platforms,” said Mike Garrow president of The Fight Network.
The Fight Network provides both content and marketing support for Fight Mobile.
The Fight Network is the first and only all combatant sports and entertainment channel that delivers boxing, wrestling, mixed martial arts, and other combatant styles along with “fight theme” movies, documentaries, and news 24 hours a day. Pride FC, K-1, TNA Wrestling (Xplosion), Ring of Honor, Showtime Boxing: Shobox, TKO, King of The Cage and Rumble on The Rock are just a few of the programming highlights found on the television network.
The FIGHT Mobile site is located within World of Sport/International Sports section on the Tier One carriers’ WAP-enabled telephones, providing breaking news, event coverage and commentary.
The launch of sport-specific text messages – which will update fight competitions in progress and offer breaking news plus live updates – will be available for fans in the U.S. and Canada in coming weeks. Streaming/downloadable video and a range of personalization products (screensavers, ringtones, etc.) will round out the content offerings of Fight Mobile.
