OTTAWA – Innovation, Science and Economic Development Minister Navdeep Bains said that his recent two-day visit to California’s Silicon Valley helped to showcase Canada’s growing leadership in artificial intelligence (AI).
In a statement, Minister Bains said that he met with businesses to promote several components of the Feds’ Innovation and Skills Plans, including the Innovation Superclusters Initiative, the Global Skills Strategy and the Economic Strategy Tables to help highlight the advantages of working and investing in Canada.
He also participated in a roundtable with women in technology (pictured) to discuss the key factors needed to create a supportive environment for women entrepreneurs, plus attended a reception hosted by C100, a non-profit association of Canadian entrepreneurs, executives and venture capital investors in San Francisco that supports the acceleration of Canada’s innovation economy in a number of sectors, including artificial intelligence.
“We’re living through a time of great transformational change powered by artificial intelligence, quantum computing and regenerative medicine”, Minister Bains said in the statement. “Canada continues to be a leader in these fields and has the opportunity to further partner with innovation ecosystems like Silicon Valley to further our global role. Cross-border partnerships mean more growth and job opportunities for Canadians at home.”
