MONTREAL – Bell Media’s Noovo.ca today announced Le Bœuf Haché ou le Tempeh (The Ground Beef or the Tempeh), a mini-series made up of 10 episodes of around six minutes each created by comedian Yannick De Martino (above), is now available online.
The series follows Rémy-Yves (played by Guillaume Laurin), who is obsessed with food waste. He is invited on a last-minute trip to New Zealand but has freshly thawed ground beef or tempeh he does not want to waste. “A real crazy race begins when he has 2 hours to find a buyer for his food,” an English translation of a French Bell Media press release says.
“The public will have the opportunity to follow Rémy-Yves’ epic in the original version with his ground beef, or in a vegetarian version with his tempeh. This unique concept on the web promises to delight lots of people, regardless of diet.”
The series stars De Martino, Laurin, Sonia Cordeau, Valérie Blais, Pierre Brassard, Hugo Dubé, Philippe-Audrey Larrue-St-Jacques and Fabiola Aladin, the release says. It is produced by Zone 3 in collaboration with Bell Media. Alec Pronovost (Complètement Lycée, Le Killing) is the series producer.
“I’m happy to have worked on this scenario in my thirties because it’s the kind of idea that can slip quickly,” said De Martino, in the English translation of the press release. “The fact that I master this type of tone better today has allowed me to be attentive on the set and to acquire new technical knowledge for future projects where I can wear more than one hat.”
The original ground beef version of the mini-series can be found here, and the vegetarian version can be found here.
