Mini MBA in telecom established

OTTAWA, LONDON and MONTREAL – Neotelis, Execulink Telecom, the Richard Ivey School of Business and Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame announced Tuesday that they have formalized an agreement to jointly sponsor a new Mini MBA in telecommunications scholarship and internship program.

The Richard Ivey School of Business (University of Western Ontario) will choose the scholarship-internship recipient from among third-year business administration students who demonstrate a strong interest in telecommunications as a future career choice.

The Mini MBA in Telecommunications training program will be conducted by Neotelis, a Montreal based company providing telecom training in Canada and internationally. The internship program will be provided by Execulink Telecom, an independent, Ontario-based telecommunications service provider offering internet, telephony and cable television services. Travel and accommodations expenses will be underwritten through a generous targeted donation by Execulink Telecom to Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame. The partners were brought together by the Hall of Fame as one of several new initiatives under its Education Program.

The first scholarship recipient will be announced in September 2010 and will participate at the Hall of Fame’s Sixth Annual Telecom Laureate Awards Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremonies on November 10th in Ottawa. The successful student will attend the Neotelis Mini MBA in Telecommunications training program in summer 2011 and participate in the internship program at Execulink Telecom before returning to the Ivey School to complete the Honours Business Administration program.

“The Hall of Fame is pleased to see this scholarship-internship program come to fruition,” said Lorne Abugov, founder and director of the hall of fame. “An important part of our mission is to encourage young people to consider telecommunications as a career choice so that they can help the rest of the Canadian economy benefit from the enabling effect of communications technologies. Neotelis, Execulink Telecom and the Richard Ivey School of Business recognize the importance of telecom-educated Canadians and have stepped up to partner with us in fulfilling this important objective.”
