TORONTO – One of TSN’s longest-serving employees, senior vice-president of production Mark Milliere, is no longer with the company, Cartt.ca has learned.
Stewart Johnston, president of media sales, marketing and TSN informed staff in a memo late last week of Milliere’s departure. We haven't seen the memo and don't know at this time why he and TSN have parted ways (we’ve asked) but the announcement caught many of those at Bell Media by surprise.
Milliere (pictured) joined the network in 1987, just three years after its launch, as an editorial assistant on SportsDesk (the predecessor to Sportscentre). He helped build many of TSN’s award-winning originals over the years such as TSN Hockey, CFL on TSN, and the World Juniors, among other productions.
As SVP Production and essentially second in command under Johnston, he was responsible for all aspects of TSN’s live productions and in-house shows and also oversaw some of Bell Media’s other live productions such as the Much Music Video Awards.
He also hired much of the network’s on-air talent and production staff and was the force behind how TSN Sportscentre has grown and developed over the years.
It’s not known at this time who will replace Milliere.
