TORONTO – Television’s popular contractor Mike Holmes and the CEO of his company The Holmes Group, Michael Quast, have decided to part company after more than a decade of working together.
The “amicable split” comes after discussions on the company's future direction, according to a statement released Monday. Mike Holmes and Michael Quast met in 2001 when Mike presented Quast, then a production executive at HGTV, with the idea for a television show that eventually became Holmes On Homes. Quast served as the series' first production executive, and in 2005, joined The Holmes Group as VP of development. He was named CEO in 2011.
“We blazed a new trail and I'm very proud of what we created together," said Quast in the statement. "I always knew there was great potential and I think what we achieved in a short time was remarkable. I wish Mike and The Holmes Group long and continued success."
"Michael has been an important part of The Holmes Group since 2005," added Mike Holmes. "Even before that, when he was a production executive at HGTV, Michael was the guy who 'tricked me' into doing a television series in the first place. I'll miss him."
Entirely owned by Mike Holmes, The Holmes Group is an international brand with operations in independent media production, new home building and inspection divisions, and product development.
