Microsoft, S-A in IPTV set-top deal

ATLANTA – Scientific-Atlanta and Microsoft announced today the two companies will collaborate on producing digital set top boxes that will support the growing demand for IPTV (Internet-delivered television) world wide. (That includes American RBOC SBC’s massive broadband/digital television push: Project Lightspeed. SBC last week announced that the two companies would be producing the set-tops for its customers.)This deal will complement S-A and Microsoft's existing collaboration on advanced encoders to support IPTV.
