Mercedes Stephenson joins Global News as Ottawa bureau chief, host of ‘The West Block’

OTTAWA – Global News has scooped political journalist Mercedes Stephenson from CTV News to be its new Ottawa Bureau Chief and the permanent host of political affairs program The West Block.For the last seven years, Stephenson (pictured) was a parliamentary correspondent for CTV News and occasional backup host of CTV News Channel’s political show Power Play. She also served two terms as a director of the Parliamentary Press Gallery.Her appointment is effective on July 23.
