Men’s Olympic hockey semi-final shatters CBC’s own online audience records

TORONTO – Friday’s men's ice hockey semi-final game between Canada and the USA registered the highest online viewing audience ever to a CBC live event, with a (preliminary) average audience of more than 625,000 on CBC and Radio-Canada’s desktop and mobile devices combined.That beats its previous record of 325,000, set during the women's ice hockey gold medal game on Thursday, a matchup that also featured Canada and the USA. As of Saturday, 32.8 million Canadians (95% of the population) had tuned in to content from the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games on either a French or English platform, an increase of about  120,000 over Day...
