MONTREAL — TVA Group’s MELS Studios and Postproduction division announced today the appointment of Geneviève Brodeur (above) as vice-president of studios and business development of MELS.
Brodeur will have three core responsibilities in this role — “managing studio personnel and operations, studio business development and marketing, in collaboration with the other sectors, and developing business intelligence tools,” TVA Group’s press release explains.
Brodeur has been working in Quebec’s media industry since 2005 and she joined Quebecor in 2015. Since that time, “she has earned a reputation for strategic thinking and results-oriented leadership,” the release says.
Her appointment comes at a time when “the market for television series and film projects is booming and the company (MELS) has seen strong growth in demand for foreign blockbuster productions,” according to the release.
Last year, MELS announced the expansion of its studios with the construction of MELS 4. Earlier this year, it unveiled a new state-of-the-art, 10,000-square-foot virtual production stage.
Brodeur will report to MELS president Martin Carrier.
“With all of MELS’ current projects, we need a solid operational structure to support our evolution,” Carrier said in the press release. “In addition to her talent for sales, Geneviève has deep expertise in CRM systems. She has already tackled many challenges at MELS and her appointment will help us strengthen our market approach and develop our offerings on various markets.”
“I am happy to put my experience to work for a fast-growing company and take on such exciting challenges,” Brodeur said. “I am fortunate to have teams with vast expertise to rely on in advancing MELS and developing its business strategies.”
