MELS announces three new senior management appointments

MONTREAL – TVA’s MELS Studios and Postproduction announced today the appointments of Julie Brabant to senior director of operations, Richard Cormier to vice-president of digital creative services and Fréderic Boucher to vice-president of equipment rental operations, all effective immediately.

“Julie, Richard and Fréderic have the expertise and agility to develop MELS’ reach to its full potential on the local and international scenes, while maintaining the quality standards and customer service for which we are known,” said Martin Carrier, president of MELS, in a press release.

Brabant will “oversee operations management of our generator activities, the production mobiles service and MELS’ vehicle fleet,” the press release says. She joins MELS with over 20 years of experience at Radio-Canada, Global and Télévision Quatre-Saisons. Most recently she worked at TVA as director of technical operations.

In addition to his new position, Cormier, who started at MELS in late 2020, will continue to serve as executive producer of virtual production. “He has a long track record in content creation in Canada and the US, including with Moment Factory and Buzz Image, and is a well-known figure on several continents,” the press release says. “In his new role, Richard adds the visual effects department to his responsibilities. He will support the company’s technological shift to an integrated digital offering.”

Boucher, who has been at MELS for 30 years, was the studio’s director of the camera rental department. Now, “he adds the lighting, grip and cabling departments to his responsibilities,” says the press release.
