OAKVILLE – Business services chain Mail Boxes Etc., along with Bell Canada and BOLDstreet Wireless, today unveiled what they’re calling the largest national network of public WiFi hotspots in Canada.
All of its 275 MBE franchised centres located across Canada are now fully operational as secure public WiFi (high speed wireless Internet) hotspots.
“Wireless capability is now more accessible than ever for the millions of Canadian mobile users who need to remain connected and productive while on the go. MBE is the first and only business services retail chain to provide a national network of public WiFi hotspots and is the largest of its kind in Canada,” says the release.
“A large percentage of our customers are teleworkers and business travellers who use MBE centres as their remote office," said Malcolm Houser, COO of Mail Boxes Etc. Canada. "Being able to offer our customers WiFi capabilities as part of our service menu is a natural extension of who we are and what we do."
Internet access is available to all wireless subscribers, independent of carrier, and billing charges will appear on the user’s monthly wireless statements. Alternatively, users can also use a credit card to purchase pre-paid time.
"This is another example of Bell’s commitment to deliver innovative and integrated IT business solutions that help small and medium businesses maximize their IT investments and increase competitiveness," said Jon Wiese, senior vice-president of marketing for small and medium business, Bell Canada.
Mail Boxes Etc. is Canada’s largest retail chain of franchised business service centres offering courier service, digital printing, colour copies, business cards, graphic design, mailbox rentals with 24 hour access, packing of goods, mail forwarding, package/mail and fax receiving and mail fulfillment. And now, customers with WiFi-enabled devices such as laptops can gain access to the Internet, send and view e-mails, or connect to their corporate networks without wires.
