MAtv’s fall schedule digs in to Montrealers’ local concerns

MONTREAL – Videotron’s community channel MAtv is readying its new fall schedule that it says includes a number of new shows by and for Montrealers of all backgrounds.

Starting September 25, the new schedule includes the new series Montrealers, hosted and created by Leah Balass (pictured) who introduces viewers to fascinating people from different walks of life and Montrealers of all origins.  Urban Nations, created and hosted by Lachlan Madill, returns for a second season with more about the lives of Aboriginal people living and working in the city while maintaining their traditions, while CityLife and its French-language counterpart Mise À Jour scrutinize, probe and question the issues affecting Montrealers' daily lives.

French-language programming includes Jay Du Temple's cycling adventure UrbArt, while Ère libre, fronted by actor, nurse, author and speaker Michèle Sirois, is geared towards seniors wishing to living life to the fullest.  Famille au menu is a lifestyle program for young families that uncovers new things to do and places to go in the city.

“With more than 50% of its programming derived from citizen projects, MAtv is distinguished by its unique local character and its close connection to viewers," said MAtv senior director Steve Desgagné, in the news release.

Distributed to 1.7 million households served by Videotron across Quebec, MAtv is available on channel 9 and in HD on channel 609.  It is also available on illico TV (channel 900), online at illico.tv, on iPad and Android tablets through the illico.tv app and on illico mobile.
