SALMON ARM, B.C. – Independent cableco Mascon has ramped up its Internet speeds after launching its new high speed fibre optic backhaul connection in the North Shuswap.
The company said Tuesday that the new fibre optic connection allows it to deliver 100 Mbps residential service and Gigibit fibre service to businesses across 90% of its BC service area. Mascon is extending its fibre network along the entire length of the North Shuswap, with service currently available to most of Lee Creek, and with it scheduled to arrive in St. Ives within the next six weeks.
"We have invested heavily in our fiber optic networks over the last several years which has allowed us to provide high end big city internet services to most of the rural and remote areas that we service", said Mascon GM Darren Muloin, in the news release. "There is still work to be done, our goal is to provide 100 Mbps and Gigibit fiber service across 100% of our network and we are getting very close. This project was completed with the help of Network BC and Industry Canada's Digital 150 Connecting Canadians program."
