SALMON ARM, B.C. – Independent cableco Mascon last week announced it is expanding its North Shuswap B.C. fiber network to provide high speed internet, television and telephone services to Lee Creek this fall and St. Ives by summer of 2016.
Both of these areas will be new fibre-to-the-home projects and will deliver internet speeds up to 100 Mbps, says the company.
"Once complete, all of the residents living in the North Shuswap will have access to latest internet technology and 100% digital TV and phone. Mascon has always invested heavily in fiber optics, all of our current systems are HFC (hybrid fibre/coax), but this expansion is our first FTTH," said Malcolm Shattock, technical director at Mascon.
This news comes on the heels of the company’s purchase of Seaview Communications of Tofino earlier this month, bringing the number of cablesystems Mascon owns and operates in the B.C. interior to nine (eight in the interior and Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island).
