Martin Scorsese to direct SCTV reunion for Netflix

TORONTO – Netflix is reuniting the comedy legends and former co-stars of SCTV in a new original comedy special that will be directed by Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese.

The special will see Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short and Dave Thomas come together in front of a live audience in Toronto for An Afternoon with SCTV, moderated by Jimmy Kimmel.

Filming will take place on May 13 at 3:00 PM at Toronto’s Elgin Theatre, and be part of the Netflix special which will be produced by longtime SCTV producer Andrew Alexander of Second City, Emma Tillinger Koskoff of Sikelia Productions and Lindsay Cox of Insight Productions.

The Canadian classic SCTV (Second City Television) aired for six seasons between 1976 and 1984, quickly becoming one of pop culture’s touchstone comedies.  Its stars include some of the most beloved and celebrated names in laughter, including the late John Candy and Harold Ramis.
