MONTREAL — Marie Collin has been appointed president and CEO of Télé-Québec, the province’s public educational broadcaster, to replace CEO Michèle Fortin, whose contract was not renewed in July by the Québec government. Collin’s appointment will reportedly take effect on August 10.

News of her appointment was reported by Radio-Canada last month.

Collin was most recently president and CEO of the Quebec Association of Media Production (AQPM), a position she held for more than a year. According to her biography on the AQPM website, from January 2000 to October 2013, Collin was senior vice-president, programming, communications and interactive media for the channels Canal Vie, Ztélé and VRAK TV for Les Chaînes Télé Astral (a division of Astral Media prior to its acquisition by Bell Media).

Collin’s previous positions include three years as director of communications for TQS (1994-1997) and five years as director of public relations at TVA (1989-1994), where she began her career as a research analyst in 1987.

Prior to her 10 years as head of Télé-Québec coming to an end, departing CEO Michèle Fortin was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada by His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada. The news was reported by Télé-Québec on July 1.
