WINNIPEG – The Government of Manitoba has kicked off a cultural review to examine the role of the arts, creative industries, heritage, libraries, Indigenous culture and cultural infrastructure in the province.

Called Imagine Creative Manitoba!, the public is invited to submit their ideas through a survey, send submissions directly to the Minister, and participate in community meetings to help shape a new culture policy.

“The policy will clarify what the province is trying to achieve and what principles will guide the changes”, reads the discussion paper.  “It will help coordinate activities within government and with stakeholders to align our efforts and support consistency. And, it will influence and guide us, provide direction, focus our priorities and ensure Manitobans continue to enjoy the social and economic benefits of culture.”

Comments and ideas are due before June 30.
