TORONTO – Luna Development, a Toronto-based Microsoft Canada technology partner, has launched a set of Windows Mobile-based QR code applications, called Luna Blitzkap and Luna Blitzkap X, for the first time in Canada and the U.S.
QR codes are two-dimensional images similar to barcodes that allow mobile device users to capture information directly from a printed source with their camera-equipped mobile phone. The information can provide a link to a website or online service, automatically dial a phone number, exchange a business card, or run an application by simply taking a photo.
QR codes were first introduced in Japan about four years ago and have exploded in popularity over the past 18 months. Today, they’re found on everything from billboards and magazine ads to fast food wrappers and street furniture.
Luna is working closely with major mobile operators in Canada and the U.S. to deliver the Luna QR solution to North American users.
Luna Blitzkap and Luna Blitzkap X allow users to read standard QR codes on any camera-equipped devices powered by Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 6.
