WINDSOR, N.S. – EastLink Television’s popular, locally produced series program, Welcome to My Kitchen, launches its 23rd season on Sunday, January 8 at 6:30 p.m.
“The program is a great opportunity to show viewers you can eat healthy even if you are cooking for only two people,” says Joan McElman (pictured), the show’s host. Welcome to My Kitchen starts the new year with fresh new look and a collection of new recipes.
“People are comfortable watching because I cook as through I am in my own kitchen; spills and all. And we are cooking with products available at your local market,” she adds, in explaining the show’s longevity.
“We’ve heard many stories of people learning to cook with Joan’s help,” added Michael Smith, director of EastLink Television. “Welcome to My Kitchen has been a great resource for amateur chefs looking to improve their cooking skills, and I recently heard of a husband who watched the show to get tips on how to cook a meal and surprised his wife on their anniversary with a full-course meal! We’re looking forward to another great season with Joan and her delicious recipes.”
Community television enjoys support from local businesses and associations that see the importance of developing local programming. Taste of Nova Scotia, an association of local food producers and processors that works to develop the food industry in Nova Scotia, sponsors Welcome to My Kitchen this season. With the success of McElman’s show, the sponsorship was a natural fit, says EastLink.
