TORONTO – Standard Radio today announced the appointment Liz Janik as program manager for its all-Canadian commercial free music channel soon to be available on SIRIUS.
In her new role, Janik will oversee music programming and play a key role in the management and operation of the station.
With over 15 years experience in the broadcasting industry, Janik has had an extensive career in both Canada and the U.S. Most recently, as president of her own consulting company, she provided consulting and research services to the broadcast media, music and internet industries.
As a consultant, Janik has worked with a wide variety of radio station owner/operators to build stations from the ground up and oversee large-scale changes to programming format. She is well-known throughout the industry for working with stations in the design and development of radio formats that include Hip Hop, R&B, Top 40, Modern Rock and Motown.
Janik cut her broadcasting teeth at CFNY in the old “Spirit of Radio” days.
"Liz brings with her immense talent and considerable expertise to our operation. On Standard’s all-Canadian music channel, SIRIUS subscribers can look forward to hearing a wide variety of Canadian music – from new up and coming artists to the classics,” said aid Gary Slaight, president and CEO of Standard Broadcasting, in the press release.
"I’m looking forward to getting down to work and developing this unique all-Canadian music channel for SIRIUS subscribers," said Janik. "With access to up and coming Canadian artists and Standard’s existing library of Canadian music, SIRIUS subscribers will have a compelling reason to tune in."
Janik has been twice-nominated by readers of Billboard Magazine for the "Modern Rock Consultant of the Year Award" and is a regular contributor to American and Canadian broadcast trade publications. She is also the Chair of the Radio Program Advisory Committee at Humber College.
Soon to be launched in Canada, SIRIUS will offer a winning combination for Canadian listeners – the credibility of news, sports and arts programming from CBC, the musical scope and depth of Standard Broadcasting, and the extensive SIRIUS U.S. broadcasting platform that features high quality entertainment, commercial-free music, talk and sports programming.
