LG extends webOS smart TV platform to other brands
TORONTO — LG Electronics announced today it is making available its webOS smart TV platform to other TV brand partners, in a move it hopes will disrupt the status quo in an industry known for proprietary operating systems being used inside different manufacturers’ TV models. More than 20 TV manufacturers around the world have already committed to the webOS partnership, including RCA, Ayonz and Konka, with more partners expected to join in the future, says LG’s press release.
