Levy, Peladeau, to help CMDC mine growth

TORONTO – Chairman and CEO of Publicis Groupe SA, Paris-based Maurice Lévy, will be one of the keynote speakers at the Canadian Media Directors’ Council (CMDC) annual conference, scheduled for March 28.

Called Mining Growth: Discovering Potential in Media Mayhem, the conference “will extract hidden wealth for all advertising and communications sectors and examine how a rapidly evolving media environment can be harnessed for growth,” says the press release.

Lévy, who heads up one of the largest communications groups worldwide – and last year ranked number one in profitability, will be the morning keynote speaker. He will be discussing his perspective on what he sees as accelerated media fragmentation and the coming “major upheaval in communications.”

The luncheon address will be presented by Quebecor Media CEO Pierre Karl Péladeau.

“We are very excited by the prospect of having speakers of this calibre present their views and outlooks on a topic of vital importance to everyone in all sectors of the communications and marketing industries,” says conference co-chair Hugh Dow, president, M2 Universal. “They, along with the other speakers and panelists participating in the conference, will give our delegates unparalleled perspectives into thriving and surviving in what we are terming media mayhem.”

Approaching 1,000 delegates annually and with an international roster of speakers, the CMDC conference is the most-attended and influential advertising conference in Canada.

The CMDC conference committee also announced that one of its most popular speakers from the 2004 conference has agreed to return and share his vision on the potential for growth in digital and other new media. As president of SMG Next, Chicago-based Rishad Tobaccowala “is one of the most influential thinkers in the North American advertising and communications industries,” says the release.

“Rishad Tobaccowala has insights into changing consumer behaviour and the interactive opportunities challenging traditional marketing mindsets that every advertiser should hear,” says Anne Myers, conference co-chair and managing director, OMD Canada. “If you are wondering where your future growth is coming from or how the new media realities will affect your business, this is a must-attend conference.”

Mining Growth: Discovering Potential in Media Mayhem takes place on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 in the John Bassett Theatre of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Full registration, including lunch is $425 until February 28, 2006. After then, registration will cost $495. For more information and to register on-line go to www.cmdc.ca.

The CMDC is an independent organization, comprised of media professionals representing advertising agencies and media management companies, working to advance the effectiveness of media advertising in Canada. Member companies account for over 80 per cent of advertising spending in the country.
