Let your apps do the walking.  SaskTel rolls out phonebook search aids

REGINA – An innovative new mobile phone application promises to help BlackBerry and iPhone users in Saskatchewan navigate the phone book.

Launched by SaskTel subsidiary DirectWest, the apps are compatible with the company’s new on-line phone book which itself offers features like search engine-friendly architecture, mapping and driving directions, and product offerings that let businesses promote themselves using rich content such as videos and display ads.

“These device specific apps are the next evolution of the Mobile SaskTel Phonebook that allow users access to the SaskTel Phonebook via their cell phones,” said DirectWest president Gord Farmer, in the announcement. “These new launches, coupled with the continued strong usage of the print and on-line SaskTel Phonebook, enable us to bring buyers and sellers together, wherever and whenever it’s most convenient.”

The mysask411 apps are free downloads for compatible mobile devices and are available through www.directwest.com/downloads or directly through the iTunes Store and BlackBerry App World.

DirectWest publishes and distributes all 10 SaskTel print phonebooks across the province. The SaskTel Phonebook is also available on-line and via mobile browser at www.mysask411.com or by texting 306411.
