Leitch appoints new veep for Videotek line

TORONTO – Leitch Technology today announced that Dave Guerrero has been appointed vice-president and general manager of Videotek, the test and measurement portion of Leitch’s infrastructure product line.

Guerrero, a 35-year broadcast industry veteran and authority in television production, will take over following the retirement of former Videotek president and founder, Phil Steyaert.

Guerrero’s key mandate is to manage the day-to-day operations of Leitch’s Videotek business and work directly with customers and industry forums to support new product development and increase market share.

He will also continue to deliver technology papers and serve as a champion for industry technology standardization activities, said the company’s press release.

"Dave brings to Leitch a comprehensive, first-hand understanding of the broadcast industry that gives us a tremendous advantage in our ability to deliver practical, real-world solutions to our customers," said Tim Thorsteinson, president and CEO of Leitch Technology. "Videotek has an excellent, long-standing reputation in the market, and offers some of the most advanced, versatile and intuitive HD/SD test instruments available today. By leveraging Dave’s extensive industry knowledge and experience, Leitch is poised to become the market leader in test and measurement solutions."

Before joining Videotek in 2002, Guerrero held various progressively responsible positions within the broadcast radio and television industry, including engineer in charge of network-level remote productions for all U.S. broadcast networks. He also served as engineering supervisor for the coverage of numerous high-profile, live events over the years, including Olympic events in Seoul, Atlanta and Salt Lake City; NFL and NBA championship games; Boston and New York City Marathon sporting events; and the Miss America and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade programs.

In his previous position as Videotek’s vice president of advanced technology, Guerrero worked in concert with numerous industry professionals and the Videotek engineering team to develop much of the division’s current cutting-edge technology, which includes high-definition test and measurement equipment, 8VSB demodulators and legalizers.
