Klassen covers cards

WINNIPEG – This is probably the first time a current Lou Marsh Award-winner has graced prepaid long distance cards.

Five-time Olympic Medalist (and as of Monday evening the 2006 Lou Marsh Award for Canada’s athlete of the year) Cindy Klassen is featured on MTS Allstream’s new prepaid long distance cards.

The cards were unveiled last week at Manitoba Premier Gary Doer’s annual ‘State of the Province Address’ hosted by the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by MTS Allstream. Each guest at the luncheon received a complimentary LD card featuring Klassen.

Available in $5 and $10 denominations, the new cards let customers make long distance calls from cellular phones, landline phones or payphones anywhere in Canada and the U.S.

“The new MTS Prepaid Long Distance cards offer our customers convenient calling options and great, low rates – especially during the holidays when they want to get in touch with friends and family throughout North America or in other parts of the world,” said Kelvin Shepherd, president consumer markets, MTS Allstream, in a release. “With no connection fees and no additional charges on their phone bills, the cards make great stocking stuffers for students, frequent travelers or anyone who makes long distance phone calls.”

There are two different card designs, both featuring Cindy and Morty the bison. The five dollar card displays Cindy talking to the bison and the ten dollar card features the two Manitoba icons standing beside one another (pictured). The new MTS Prepaid Long Distance cards can be purchased at MTS Connect stores and authorized dealers throughout Manitoba.
