Kim Carver named big fish of WFN pond

DENVER, COLO – The World Fishing Network announced Tuesday that Kim Carver has been named president and CEO after serving as interim president since last October.

Carver is also concurrently president and CEO of Altitude Sports and Entertainment. Her responsibilities at WFN will mirror those at Altitude, where she oversees network operations including the network’s business initiatives, marketing, sales and distribution efforts, programming, production and digital media.

A 24-year veteran of the television and broadcasting industry, Carver became president and CEO of Altitude Sports and Entertainment in November 2011. She has launched, grown and managed several international television networks and sports programming ventures, starting at STAR Television in Hong Kong in 1991.

In 1995, she became program manager for Galaxy Television’s Premier Sports Network in Sydney, Australia, helping to launch several FOX networks under the FOXTEL banner and later taking the reins of Main Event Television as the network’s general manager.

Carver was named vice-president of network presentation for ESPN STAR Sports in Singapore in 2004 before returning to the U.S. in 2006 to launch The Mtn. – MountainWest Sports Network.

WFN also announced that Steve Hurlbut has joined the company as advisor to the CEO, reporting directly to Carver.

Hurlbut had been working as a consultant to WFN over the last several months. Most recently, he has coordinated several live television events along the Front Range for the Tupelo Honey production company. He joined The Mtn. – MountainWest Sports Network in 2006 as executive producer and director of programming and assumed the role of vice-president of production and programming in early 2011 and general manager later that year.

Previously, Hurlbut had served as the executive producer of the Emmy-award winning Atlantic 10 Television Network since 2002.
