TORONTO – Kik Interactive is partnering with content platform Massively on an interactive text-messaging story game to support the newly launched theatrical trailer for the next installment of the horror film series Insidious.
Developed by Massively’s creative team for new and long-time fans of the Insidious series, the adventure introduces Kik users to the character of Quinn Brenner, the new film’s teenage heroine. The non-linear story allows Kik users to chat with Quinn and participate in a transmedia experience that reveals plot points and characters from the film.
Inspired by the idea that fans want to chat with characters they love, Massively draws from multiple choice adventures and alternate reality games, allowing users send and receive text messages to guide stories, receive clues, jokes and more. Kik’s Promoted Chats allow users to connect with brands in a personal, one-to-one setting.
“In our first project with Massively, we built the most sophisticated Promoted Chats experience to date by connecting our users with fictional characters and immersing them in a story that will boost engagement for the movie”, said Kik product strategist Paul Gray, in the news release. “We’re excited to partner with Massively on this project and future campaigns.”
“With a rapidly growing 200 million user base, this partnership with Kik allows Massively the opportunity to personally engage users in one-on-one chat conversations with characters they love”, added Massively president Russell Ward.
Insidious: Chapter 3 is scheduled to open domestically nationwide from Focus Features on June 5, 2015.
