TORONTO – Former senior Canadian soccer executive Kevan Pipe has been hired as a consultant for Insight Sports Ltd.’s specialty TV channel devoted to soccer, GOLTV, it was announced Monday. Pipe immediately begins his duties of assisting in the strategic business development of the network in the areas of events, sales, marketing and programming.
“With the success of the 2007 FIFA Under-20 World Cup and the emergence of Toronto FC, the popularity of soccer in Canada is arguably at its highest point ever,” said Pipe. “I’m looking forward to working with Insight Sports to help further build and strengthen the GOLTV brand across a wide range of platforms.”
With more than 30 years experience in developing soccer in Canada, including 21 years as head of the Canadian Soccer Association, Pipe recently launched Kevan Pipe Sports Consulting Inc.
He continues to represent FIFA and CONCACAF internationally and currently serves as a consultant for FIFA in the areas of stadium, security and ticket programming and is a member of the organization’s referees committee.
He was also named CONCACAF’s head general coordinator for the 2007 Gold Cup and served two years as a member of the organizing committee for the 2007 FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
