TORONTO – Richard Kanee has been appointed as CBC’s new Head of Digital.

Kanee, who started in his new role on August 25, reports to Neil McEneaney, Chief Business Officer, CBC English Services.  In this role, Kanee leads a small team responsible for facilitating the development and realization of English Services’ cross-platform digital strategy to increase revenues and expand CBC’s commitment to digital audiences and storytellers.

He joins the CBC from Creative D Inc., a digital media company working with top-tier media companies to engage online audiences in new ways, where he was the president and CEO.  He has also held roles with a focus on digital at CTVGlobemedia’s digital media group and CHUM Interactive.

“It’s no secret we live in a digital world  and with our new strategic plan (A Space For Us All) putting an even stronger emphasis on digital and mobile, it’s imperative that we have a strong leader to drive our thinking in that space”, said McEneaney, in the announcement.  “Richard is well respected across the industry and his extensive background and experience will be a big asset to us. He is known for his strategic mind and strong business acumen — qualities I know will be a great benefit to CBC English Services.”
