Pattison Media is looking for the next ‘legend in the making’ to call hockey for WHL and Junior ‘A’ hockey teams in Saskatchewan.
These are opportunities that don’t come up often and we expect the competition to be fierce. What will set you apart from the other candidates is the ability to seamlessly transition between play-by-play announcing and general assignment news reporting which will be paramount in the off-season but also required throughout the year.
You’ll work with senior newsroom leaders to tell compelling stories and build multi-media coverage for our digital assets and affiliate radio stations.
We provide training, leadership, goal setting, and assistance to help make you successful plus a competitive benefits package and access to free mental health supports.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Research, pitch and write compelling general news stories while creating sources.
• Anchor afternoon newscasts occasionally.
• Coordinate radio and online coverage of the hockey team.
• Play-by-Play for all home and away games.
• Host public events on behalf of the team and radio station.
Qualifications:
• Post-secondary diploma/degree in broadcast journalist or minimum 1-2 years broadcast experience.
• Working knowledge of digital news including social media, videography, and CP writing style.
• Excellent play-by-play skills and ability to produce and execute a hockey game broadcast.
• Ability to travel on the road, with the team, for extended periods of time throughout the season.
• Professional appearance, valid driver’s license.
• Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
