Director, Business Affairs

Gusto TV is the world’s best food channel. Based in Ottawa, the channel is now seen on over 40 platforms in 160 countries.

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Business Affairs is responsible for facilitating Gusto’s strategic planning, key commercial relationships, and is the point person for contractual negotiations and administrative support for the channels, production, sales and marketing units.

The position is based in Ottawa, Ontario.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide counsel and advice to the CEO for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives
• Work with CEO to identify and execute new platform launch opportunities
• Drive the optimization and monetization of Gusto channels
• Prepare and review contracts
• Prepare regular assessments of platform performance
• Manage relationships with platforms, ad-serving and ad demand partners and vendors
• Leverage data analytics to inform strategy
• Manage a third-party direct sales relationship
• Oversee channel operations, scheduling and marketing departments to ensure timely platform launches, troubleshoot technical issues and marketing content creation
• Collaborate with Finance and Production to implement and administer all tax credit applications, insurance and banking requirements for production
• HR management (including staffing and contracts, budgeting, training and development)
• Oversee corporate communications and B2B activity
• Negotiate and oversee Gusto presence at events and trade shows, and seek/evaluate sponsorship opportunities

Requirements:

• Minimum 5-7 years of business affairs/operations experience
• Demonstrated ability to be effective and to exercise influence, legal and business judgment in challenging situations
• Experience engaging with legal counsel on multiple issues
• Media experience is an asset, leadership experience is a must
• A working knowledge of Canadian tax credit system
• Independent and proactive
• Natural communication skills and ability to adapt quickly
• Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills
• Must be a Canadian citizen or a Permanent Resident
• A passionate advocate with a love for food!
• Priority consideration will be given to individuals who are currently working in the streaming/FAST ecosystem, however, we recognize this is an evolving technology and candidates may not have direct experience
