The Role:
The Chyron Operator is responsible for titling and character generation services during production and post-production.
Accountability:
Works under the direction of the Manager, Programming Operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Operate Chyron for live and pre-taped programs, events and specials;
• Set up, test and operate character generation (CG) equipment;
• Ensure CG is operating properly, identify equipment failures, and inform the director;
• Troubleshoot CG equipment as required;
• Enter text, credits, titles, supers, etc;
• Check keys for proper formatting and spelling;
• Work with editors to produce graphics;
• Operate production software for rundowns, etc…
• Take direction from director;
• Prior experience in VTR/Replay considered an asset;
• Undertake other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (knowledge, skills and experience required):
• Certificate, diploma, or degree from technical college in electronics, radio/television production, or equivalent experience;
• Required to work shifts, evenings, and weekends;
• Possesses a good visual sense of composition;
• Develops and maintains positive work relationships with co-workers, supervisors and talent;
• Understands basic broadcast electronics;
• Job requires good proofreading and editing capacity;
• Works well as a member of a team;
• Ability to work to exacting standards under high stress situations;
• Maintains an environment that recognizes, supports, respects and welcomes diversity of employees.
This is an hourly/contract position.
