OTTAWA – The Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC) announced Tuesday a number of changes to its board of directors that include long-time board member Jim Deane assuming the role of chair.
Until his retirement from Regina-based Access Communications earlier this year, Deane had served as Access CEO since 2000. He has been a CPAC director for more than 20 years “and brings a wealth of institutional knowledge to the role” of board chair, says a press release announcing CPAC’s board changes.
Pam Dinsmore, vice-president of regulatory for cable at Rogers Communications, is joining the CPAC board as vice-chair. Based in Toronto, Dinsmore is a lawyer who has spent her career in the regulatory arena, first with the CRTC and later in a senior leadership role at Rogers for more than 25 years.
Paul Beaudry, vice-president of regulatory and governmental affairs at Cogeco, joins the board as a director. Based in Montreal, Beaudry has been with Cogeco since 2020. Prior to his work in telecommunications, Beaudry practised competition and foreign investment law and was a senior policy advisor to the federal industry minister.
The new board appointees join existing CPAC board directors Jad Barsoum, vice-president of institutional affairs at Montreal-based Quebecor, and Marielle Wilson, vice-president of regulatory at Eastlink, based in Halifax.
“CPAC’s board members are proud stewards of Canada’s only not for profit, commercial free, bilingual television service created to preserve and promote this country’s democratic principles,” CPAC CEO Christa Dickenson, said in the press release. “We are fortunate to have executives with so much experience and expertise serving on our board continuing to uphold CPAC’s sound governance.”
