MONTREAL – Videotron has elevated Jean-François Pruneau to president and CEO of Videotron, succeeding Manon Brouillette who said in October that she was stepping down from the role at the end of 2018.

Pruneau (pictured) has been senior vice-president and Chief Financial Officer of Quebecor since November 2010.  He first joined the company in 2001, and has also held the roles of treasurer and vice-president, finance of Quebecor, Quebecor Media, Videotron and Sun Media Corporation.

"Since joining Quebecor in 2001, Jean-François has made a major contribution to creating value for the Corporation and its shareholders," said Quebecor president and CEO Pierre Karl Péladeau, in Monday’s announcement. "We began working together at that time, when I myself was president and CEO of Videotron. I must say that I have rarely encountered a CFO with such well-developed business instincts and sense for operations. With his clear vision and exceptional skills, he has been able to develop customized strategies that have enabled Quebecor and its subsidiaries, including Videotron, to post strong performances and execute on our ambitious business plan. I am confident that Jean-François is the right person to ensure Videotron's success going forward."

"I'm very happy to take up the reins at Videotron, a company that is constantly testing the limits of excellence and is generally acknowledged to have the best customer service," added Pruneau.  "With Videotron's solid team, we will continue to focus on the customer experience, innovation and the power of convergence. I am determined to continue growing the company and want to lead Videotron to new heights."

In related news, Péladeau also announced that Marc M. Tremblay is now Chief Operating Officer of Quebecor while retaining his responsibilities as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary.  In addition, Hugues Simard, who was with Quebecor from 1998 to 2017 but was most recently EVP and CFO of Indigo Books & Music Inc., is now Chief Financial Officer of Quebecor.

"The changes at the top at Videotron have afforded us an opportunity to expand the role and increase the responsibilities of some long-time associates of Quebecor," Péladeau continued. "Marc has demonstrated a thorough command of all corporate issues and will have, in his new duties, an even greater role in developing business and operational strategies. I am also very pleased to announce that Hugues Simard is rejoining us. Hugues has an impressive track record and is a proven leader. He will be a key player in the Corporation and will help guide us towards achievement of our financial and business objectives."
