BANFF – Jamie Brown, executive producer of the Winnipeg and Toronto –based Frantic Films, was named the new chair of the Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA), Saturday at the CMPA board of directors meeting in Banff.

He replaces David MacLeod (Big Motion Pictures) who is stepping down after a successful two years as chair.

Over the past 20 years as the founder of Frantic Films, Brown has created or co-created over a dozen series and is responsible for hundreds of hours of production including documentaries, Movies of the Week, scripted and unscripted series, and feature films.  His productions have sold in more than 180 countries around the world.

“In addition to Jamie’s acumen as a business professional and creator, he has always generously given back to the industry", said CMPA president and CEO Michael Hennessy, in the announcement.  “His insights into the issues of the day will benefit all CMPA members and provide us with the strong leadership we need in the months and years ahead.”
