It’s time to start planning for the 100th anniversary of Canadian broadcasting


THIS SUNDAY, MAY 20, 2018, will be the 98th anniversary of what might have been the world’s first real, scheduled, radio program.It originated from XWA (later CFCF-AM) in Montreal, on the evening of May 20, 1920. The program was heard in Ottawa at a meeting of the Royal Society of Canada, with both the Prime Minister (Sir Robert Borden) and the Leader of the Opposition (W.L. Mackenzie King) in attendance.
