TORONTO — Grey Cup week will be celebrated differently this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but TSN will broadcast special content during the CFL’s week-long virtual celebration of Canada’s iconic football championship, Bell Media announced today.
The league’s free online events, being held under the banner Grey Cup Unite, run from Monday, November 16 to Sunday, November 22.
TSN’s special Grey Cup week programming will culminate in an original two-hour special, called Grey Cup Unite, premiering Saturday, November 21 at 8 p.m. ET. The special broadcast will include the following highlights:
- CFL on TSN host Rod Smith in conversation with special guests including CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie, and Canadian Football Hall of Famers Doug Flutie, Danny MacManus and CFL on TSN’s own Henry Burris
- James Duthie sits down for an interview with Winnipeg Blue Bombers star running back and last year’s Grey Cup MVP Andrew Harris
- The unveiling of the winner of the “Greatest Grey Cup Team Ever” project, as chosen by a panel of CFL on TSN experts
- An update on the 2021 Grey Cup in Hamilton
Commissioner Ambrosie will kick off Grey Cup week on November 16 with the “Fan State of the League” virtual town hall, which will be streamed live on TSN.ca beginning at 3 p.m. ET. TSN Football Insiders Dave Naylor and Farhan Lalji will provide context and analysis on the CFL’s future plans.
Throughout the week, TSN platforms will deliver unique Grey Cup content, highlighted by the “Greatest Grey Cup Team Ever” project, led by CFL on TSN reporter Matthew Scianitti. The bracket-style competition will unfold at TSN.ca/CFL, with CFL on TSN experts making their selections from eight Grey Cup title winners vying for the title of greatest CFL champion team of all time.
From Monday to Saturday, TSN will look back at a decade’s worth of Grey Cup games in a series of CFL encores (the complete broadcast schedule is available here). In addition, TSN will premiere the documentary Journey to the Grey Cup: 2019, focusing on Andrew Harris and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ championship run after 30 years of heartbreak, on Thursday, November 19 at 7 p.m. ET.
