NEWMARKET, ON – The Independent Telecommunications Providers Association (ITPA) has pledged to “speak with one voice” after expanding in to Quebec.
The organization said Monday that it has officially welcomed telcos CoopTel, Groupe Maskatel LP, Sogetel Inc. and 9315-1884 Inc. to the fold, bringing the ITPA membership to 23 SILECs serving 180,000 access lines in Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia .
“We were informed last year that l’Association des compagnies de téléphone du Québec (the ACTQ) intended to shutter itself at the end of 2016”, said ITPA executive director Jonathan Holmes, in a statement. “The ITPA has worked extremely closely and extremely well with the members of the ACTQ over the years and we were very pleased when they approached the ITPA to discuss joining our Association.”
The ITPA represents the regulatory and commercial interests of 23 diversified small incumbent local exchange carriers (SILECs) that provide a broad range of telephone, Internet, cellular and digital television services across many rural regions in the provinces of Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia.
