IT expert from IBM joins ORION board of directors


TORONTO – The Ontario Research and Innovation Optical Network (ORION) has appointed David Drury, general manager of IBM’s global technology services in Canada, to the organization’s board of directors.

ORION president and CEO Darin Graham says Drury’s breadth of IT experience will help bring ORION’s services forward and help its diverse user base adopt new technologies and services.

“Throughout his career David has proven himself to be an incredibly smart and visionary thinker,” Graham said of the announcement. “As an expert in bringing good ideas to market, I’m sure that our users will benefit significantly from his strategic direction and guidance.”

During his 29-year career with IBM, Drury has served as the vice-president of financial services and insurance, the director of business partners in the global financial services sector for IBM, and also as the director of property and casualty insurance solutions for the global insurance industry. He also currently serves on the boards for the Foundation Fighting Blindness, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's Leaders for the Cure; and as chair of the Board of Governors, Junior Achievement of Central Ontario.
