IP network expansion pays off for Allstream

TORONTO – Allstream said Tuesday that the targeted expansion of its national IP fibre network is paying off as the company signed 48 new IP contracts in the first quarter of 2011.

Allstream, a business unit of MTS Allstream, launched a program last March to expand its IP fibre access into multi-tenant buildings across Canada. Since the start of the initiative, the company said that it has extended fibre into 141 new multi-tenant fibre-fed buildings and won a total of 187 new IP contracts.

"It has been a full year since we started to aggressively focus on building out Allstream’s IP fibre network and the number of new IP contracts we are winning in connection with this initiative demonstrate that it was the right strategy to pursue," said president Dean Prevost, in the announcement.

Some of Allstream’s new clients include CCN Media, Gallium, Groundswell Group, Keel Cottrelle LLP and The Ontario Federation of Labour.
