
FERRYLAND, NL – The federal and Newfoundland governments announced Wednesday an investment of $94 million for Bell and Xplore to bring high-speed internet to over 36,000 homes in over 350 rural and indigenous communities in the province.
Innovation Canada and the province partnered to deliver $136 million to connect the rest of the province, with $116 of that coming from the Universal Broadband Fund. Wednesday’s announced funding comes from that pool, with the federal government contributing $74 million.

On the same day, Xplore announced it is expanding its 5G fixed wireless and fibre-to-the-premises networks in Newfoundland.
