In 3.2 million homes, but still not Rogers

TORONTO – TSN2 said today that seven weeks after its launch, the digital channel is now available in 3.2 million Canadian homes – more than any Canadian national digital sports channel.

Launched on August 29, TSN2 has secured distribution deals with a growing number of television service providers across the country, but are still shut out of Rogers Cable and Videotron.

“This has been a remarkable launch for TSN2,” said Phil King, president of TSN, in a press release. “We have heard overwhelmingly from sports fans across the country that they want TSN2 in their homes and are thrilled to have more choice when it comes to watching live sports.”

TSN2 features 800-plus hours of live major league sports action annually, including 34 exclusive NHL games this season. Details on TSN2’s NBA schedule will be announced soon.

TSN2’s live events will also include curling, international hockey, golf, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, IndyCar Series, Grand Slam Tennis, boxing, mixed martial arts and NCAA football and basketball.

In addition to that, the channel also delivers new timeslots for Western-based viewers with time-shifted showings of TSN programming.
