TORONTO – IBM has signed a seven-year contract with Rogers Communications for information technology services and support, the companies announced.
“IBM will support Rogers’ ongoing information technology transformation with a stable and highly available IT environment,” reads the press release.
“To accommodate future growth, Rogers will have immediate access to IBM’s state-of-the-art data centre located outside Toronto. This will be linked to Rogers’ existing data centre facility using Rogers Business Services networking technology. IBM will also upgrade Rogers’ existing data centre facilities and storage capabilities over the next several years,” it reads.
"IBM is committed to supporting Rogers through the delivery of cost-effective and flexible services, as well as through access to IBM’s technology innovation," said Saad Toma, general manager, Global Technology Services, IBM Canada.
A Rogers spokesperson said it’s too soon to tell if this will affect jobs in any way at the cable and wireless giant.
