POPULAR ON-LINE VIDEO hub Hulu has introduced an ad-supported subscription product called Hulu Plus which it describes as incremental and complementary to its existing service.
In a post on the company’s blog, CEO Jason Kilar said that subscribers who own select Samsung Internet-connected TVs and Blu-ray players can download a Hulu Plus application from the Samsung app store and start streaming content directly to their TV. Content is also available via Wi-Fi or 3G to the Apple iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 or third-generation iPod Touch, and will soon be available on Sony’s PlayStation 3 as well.
“You can start watching a show on your HDTV one night, pick up where you left off on your laptop at lunch, watch another chunk on the bus ride home on your iPhone, and finish watching in bed on your iPad”, Kilar’s post reads. “The time to watch your favorite shows is any time you want.”
Priced at $9.99 a month, the service is currently available in the U.S. by invitation only. Hulu said that it will remove the need for an invitation and start bringing on new subscribers shortly.
