TORONTO — Crave and production company New Metric Media announced today Hulu will be the exclusive streaming home of the debut season of the new Letterkenny spin-off series Shoresy in the United States.
The six-episode, half-hour comedy is created and written by Jared Keeso (above, standing), who stars in the title role and is also an executive producer for the series.
As previously announced, Shoresy “sees the foul-mouthed, chirp-serving, mother-loving, fan favourite character, Shoresy, join a senior AAA hockey team in Sudbury on a quest to never lose again,” reads a Bell Media press release.
Shoresy is set to premiere this spring on Crave in English and French. A launch date on Hulu was not announced. Hulu is already the U.S. streaming home for Letterkenny.
“It’s a point of pride that hockey players and comedy remain two of this country’s finest exports and so we are thrilled to introduce Shoresy to the ever-growing legion of American Letterkenny fans,” said Justin Stockman, vice-president of content development and programming at Bell Media, in the press release.
“With this latest sale to Hulu in the U.S. and the overall success of the franchise, Bell Media and Crave continue to help create must-see content that knows no borders.”
Shot on location in Sudbury, Shoresy features Keeso alongside a cast of primarily Canadian actors and former hockey players, including Tasya Teles (The 100), Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat (Tribal), Blair Lamora (Paranormal Nightshift), Keilani Rose (Flimsy), Ryan McDonell (The Crossing), Max Bouffard (Letterkenny), Blainville, Que., rapper and semi-pro hockey player Jonathan-Ismael Diaby, former Montréal Canadien, author and actor Terry Ryan, former Kahnawake Condor and MMA fighter Andrew “The Canon” Antsanen, former semi-pro hockey player Jon “Nasty” Mirasty, former Carolina Hurricane centre Brandon Nolan, and three-time Stanley Cup winner Jordan Nolan (Los Angeles Kings and St. Louis Blues).
Guest stars on the series include Laurence Leboeuf (Transplant), Scott Thompson (Kids in the Hall), Jonathan Torrens (Trailer Park Boys), Jacob Tierney (Letterkenny), Camille Sullivan (Trigger Me), Eliana Jones (Northern Rescue), Kim Cloutier (Letterkenny), Michala Brasseur (Grand Army) and social media star and podcaster Lysandre Nadeau.
Shoresy is produced by New Metric Media in partnership with WildBrain and Play Fun Games in association with Bell Media and with participation from the Canada Media Fund, OMDC Tax Credits, and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund. The series is distributed by WildBrain, and New Metric Media is the exclusive sales agent.
A teaser trailer for the series debuted during last night’s Super Bowl LVI broadcast on CTV.
