Hotspot usage surges thanks to Wi-Fi handhelds, says In Stat

THE HOTSPOT market is staging a come back, due in large part to Wi-Fi enabled handsets, renewed interest from communication providers, and increased usage from business and leisure users, says In-Stat.The market research firm says that Wi-Fi handset shipments have exploded over the past year, and will continue to show strong growth over the next several years. As a percentage of total connects, Wi-Fi enabled handhelds increased from 20% in 2008, to 35% in 2009.
